Q. How do I register?
A. Please check our website, Facebook, and Twitter regularly for updates regarding registration information. Once registration is open, forms will be available to download from our website.
Q. How much does it cost to attend the camp?
A. The total cost of the camp is $350. A non-refundable $125 deposit is due at time of registration in order to secure your spot.
Q. Where is the camp held?
A. Our 2022 camp will be held Monday August 1 – Friday August 5, 2022 at MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts) located at 1900 Kane St, Houston, TX 77007 . The End of Camp Showcase is scheduled for Sunday August 7, 2022 at venue TBA.
Q. What are the camp hours?
A. General camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am – 5 pm. Saturday is a day off. The End of Camp Showcase is scheduled on Sunday, with sound check at 2pm and the Showcase at 4pm.
Q. Is financial aid available? If so, how do I apply?
A. Yes, we are awarding five fully financial aid scholarships this year. Click here for more information on how to apply.
Q. Do you need musical experience to attend Girls Rock Camp Houston?
A. Absolutely not.
Q. Should I bring my own instrument?
A. GRCH strongly encourages campers to bring their own instruments, if they have one. If a camper does not have their own instrument, GRCH will provide any and/or all instruments.
Q. What else should I bring?
A.The campers should bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a lunch.
Q. Do I need to live in Houston?
A. No, a camper does not need to live in Houston (or even Texas) to attend Girls Rock Camp Houston.
Q. Will food be provided or should I bring lunch?
A. We urge parents to send a lunch with the camper but we will provide a lunch should a camper forget hers at home.
Q. Since Girls Rock Camp Houston is a volunteer – based organization, where does the money from registration and donations go?
A. All registration fees and donations go towards funding our camp week; such as rental space for camp week, rental space for the live musical performance, musical equipment needs (such as instruments, amps, PAs, guitar strings, ear plugs, etc.), supplies for our non musical workshops, promotional materials and scholarships for families who cannot afford to pay the full tuition to attend the camp.
